I hate religion, but love Jesus.

Yeah, I know it's kinda late, but I've been meaning to do this post for a while. For those who haven't seen the video, check it out:
It's a viral video via YouTube, and it does have a lot of good points. There is, however, one small but crucial point that most people should be able to get just by seeing the name.

Christianity is a religion. Without Christianity, how would he know about Christ? Therefore, logic says without Christianity, he wouldn't love Jesus...hell he wouldn't even know Him.

Of course, while I was thinking about writing a post about this, many response videos came out. Here is the Catholic version:

Of course, I am more in line with this video, mainly because his logic is sound and he did his homework on history. Oh, and he defends the institution that kept the religion alive through tough times.

A religious debate, in any form, is bound to be controversial with one person pushing his own faith on another person. That's the thing about religion and it's institutions; religion is a faith based belief system with hardly any real scientific evidence, and it's institutions are there to spread their knowledge on religion in a way that the institution understands it.

I'm sure we can all agree that if we read the same book, one full of poetry nonetheless, we are bound to come out with different interpretations of it. But as the Catholic response video said, it's not right to attack the institution that taught you the very knowledge as a whole, but rather to search for a different meaning that you can understand.

The beauty of free will is that we can understand what we want, how we want it, and live by how we understand it. Keeping within certain moral boundaries of course. There's a reason it's called the Golden Rule. If everyone just treated each other as they wanted to be treated, we would be in a very different world.

The church has gone very far with creating these rules for their congregation to follow. It's mainly because they have to counteract the evolution of media and society in today's world. I do believe that a different approach should be pursued though.

Of course, you shouldn't kill, steal, you should obey your mother and father, all that good stuff. Honestly, the Golden Rule covers all of this though. There would be less rules if we taught our kids to treat others how you want to be treated.

That's what I think the guy in the first video had a problem with. He saw too many hypocrites walking around saying their people of God, yet they do things to contradict that statement. What I'm saying is that we're all sinners, there are different standards that different people follow. I'm sad that he didn't meet anyone who was genuine in their approach to teaching others about the church. It's actually abnormal to me.

We need to teach the younger generation to take religion for what it is. A way to set moral and ethical standards for how to live life, so that the world actually still has some good people in it when we're long gone. A way to teach about God and his works, and how He is a God of second chances, a loving God, one worthy of praise. And lastly the power of the Bible.

Now I'll be honest, I haven't read that thing in a while, but honestly there are some good things in there.

Oh, and don't forget humility. Going to church doesn't automatically make someone better than others. Doi.

I applaud both of them for not only their talent with spoken word, but for their courage to voice their opinion to the world.

So call me a liberal, but...

in an ever so changing world, I believe we need liberals to move us forward. As long as we have people with good hearts up top at the peak of our government, being a liberal is not something that should be feared.

We hear things like "he's not conservative enough", but if we think about it, everything has changed; not all the same rules apply.

Example: President Abraham Lincoln was a liberal. Don't believe me? It was the norm to own an African slave while Abraham Lincoln was president. Practically every white family had slaves. This liberal president told everyone what America was doing was wrong. Africans, like all other humans on the planet, are people; no lesser or greater than anyone else. We should all be treated not by the color of our skin, but by our character. Imagine if we stayed "conservative" like the south wanted us to. What a different world this would be.

President Obama is now getting flak for being a little liberal. He is saying that companies should pay for contraception for their female employees.

Here's my favorite part. "The government is over extending its power. Healthcare should be taken care of privately, not by the government." Okay, smarty-pants: history still teaches us of a time when education was a right only for the rich. Public schools are what now? Taken care of by the government, oh snap. Being educated is extremely important in today's world, but so is being healthy. Plus, it's not much, he's just extending his hand to the female population. Plus, not all of it is about preventing birth, but rather, regulating menstrual cycles and helping with hormonal balance.

I can't force those against a semi-liberal agenda to listen to my ideas, that's the beauty of America; I just hope the American people can understand that new changes in society requires new laws and regulations. Don't give Obama crap for needing to clean up Bush's mess. I believe he certainly is doing a good job; but yes, more could be done. Plus, these retards who are just "voting against Obama" don't understand the greed of these other politicians.

P.S.
I am stating all of this hoping you know I am a Roman Catholic, and I have been since I was a child. I do believe in my church, but what I understand is faith without action isn't really faith. Plus, one could argue that God gave us birth control so that children wouldn't be born into a world that they wouldn't be taken care of. That's an argument for another post though. Lulz.

What gets me about Americans...

is that a lot of them are so misinformed that it's changing the way society and government works today. First off, let's talk about this "trickle down effect" that republicans love so much.

They state that giving money to the rich helps the economy because it creates more jobs throughout the population.

A. What?!
B. When has this system actually flourished?
C. So you're saying that if we give tax breaks to the rich, the poor will have more jobs? Is this capitalism, or communism?
D. Warren Buffet, a stock trade expert, has stated himself that he should be paying the same percentage as the rest, not a lower percentage. Explain to me why someone who is respected as an expert and also part of the richest in America is saying this.
E. We tried this way, and it took Clinton's surplus and turned it into one of the largest deficits that we've ever seen.
F. I would only advocate this if I was rich and I wanted to make sure I stay that way. (Give me a million dollars)

Secondly, how the hell is Gingrich even an option?

A. He vowed to do a positive campaign, then started slinging mud.
B. Three wives...commitment issue much?
C. His party doesn't even like him. Ethics commitee?
D. I will admit, even with all that baggage, he is a good speaker; but so was Hitler.

Third off, Obama isn't doing his job?

A. Uh, he is.
B. Obstructionists (pretty much all the Republicans) are working their hardest to shut down everything he's trying to do for us, the American people.
C. Tax rates are actually the lowest we've seen in 60 years.
D. His focus is creating jobs and providing healthcare for the American people. Explain to me why the well being of our society as a whole is bad for America.
E. He wants to fix the tax laws that the Bush Administration put in, because it just isn't working. Like he said in his State of the Union: the tax laws should make sense for everyone.

Moving on, "Obama is a socialist".

A. What is your understanding of socialism? I want to hear this.
B. What is socialist about his agenda? I mean besides wanting to rebuild America and her economy using our tax dollars, of course =D.

And lastly, Republicans are saying "we need to cut spending to decrease our deficit".

A. The first place they looked is at teaching salary. Really? Because teachers get paid way too much, right?
B. Economic advice from todays republicans. Lulz.
C. Teachers are the first step to creating a better tomorrow. You can't honestly believe that cutting spending on them is a good idea.
D. If the republicans had it their way, they'd cut spending on things that they never use (i.e. welfare for struggling families because of the crap economy, learning and scholastic achievement of tomorrows leaders, affordable transportation and maintaining of public roads, libraries, health clinics) you know, as long as they make the same (or possibly more) in their line of work (which we pay for).

Don't tell me this is anti-capitalism. It's as simple as creating an America that is livable for everyone. There's a reason people come here. They say it's the land of oppourtunity, the land of the free. I believe in America, but we need to put the people who actually care about the general public in office, not those selfish idiots who have their own agenda.

Tl;dr
Unless you're a millionaire, know someone, or get lucky, you're never going to see the money from the trickle down effect. Good luck.

2012

With December 21, 2012 around the corner, and the masses talking of an apocalyptic event, we've all been contemplating what to do about the upcoming month.

Most people will probably just live their lives as normal, knowing that many predictions of the end of the world are completely and utterly wrong. I'm actually scared of the people who put most/all of their eggs into this theory. I hope these people don't go running around in a rage thinking that the end of the world is coming anyway.

While there are many talks and debates on the issue of chaotic as you can imagine, some have come to believe that 2012 will simply be a year of rebirth. That's right, the world as we know it will change drastically, and we will enter a new era. While I also find this hard to believe, it is a very easy sell. Obama is shakin' a couple things up in the White House: by ending the war on "terror", trying to create jobs, reducing our dependency on foreign oil, and keeping our taxes relatively low (yes, don't believe the republicans). I believe this year is the year where we need to have a breakthrough on our economic situation.

What you want to believe about the Mayan calender, Chinese calender, apocalypse, and the omega is completely up to you. I wouldn't do anything too rash though, 'cause if December 23rd does come along this year, you're going to have to pay the consequences of your actions.

New Year!

So what's your resolution for the new year? Mines is to practice saving my money instead of blowing it on random stuff and to stop smoking. Honestly I think I'm going to have to stop drinking for a while as well, because when I drink, I get the urge to smoke.

Like most people I know, my new years resolutions don't last very long. This time, however, my group of friends put money on the "no smoking" resolution. It kinda sucks that if I fail at not smoking, I also lose $100 to each of my four friends participating in this bet, which effectively puts a dent into my whole "I want to save more money" plan.

In other news, it's going to be the end of the world! Lol, I don't really believe in that little theory. Let's see how everything plays out. What I do believe is that the world is changing and evolving as we know it. Perhaps the world as we know it will end, but it will be the start of something different. Then again, who knows? It's always fun to speculate.

On a side note, this is my 100th post! Happy new year guys =D.

As for myTouch 4G Slide Posts: Moved to new blog.

Seeing as how this is more of a blog without a niche, I've decided to copy over anything phone related (more specifically, the myTouch 4G Slide) over to Rooted Doubleshot. I figured that those looking for myTouch 4G Slide stuff wouldn't be interested in my personal random rants on life. Please enjoy the new blog.

I do apologize, as I should have done this earlier. At least the new blog won't have my random thoughts. Haha =D.
